Promotional Products Business has been honored with an Award of Distinction in the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts 2022 Communicator Awards for its October 2021 issue.

The Award:

  • 2022 marks the 28th year of the Communicator Awards, which honor the best in advertising, corporate communications and public relations, focusing on print, video, and audio.

  • PPB’s award came in the Magazine-Association category. The issue that earned the award for its design and look featured a cover shoot with PPAI CEO and President Dale Denham, MAS+, who at the time of the issue’s release, had recently been named as the new leader of the Association.

  • The October 2021 issue and its cover was one of the final projects produced under former Director of Publications Tina Berres Filipski before she stepped down in January after 26 years with PPAI.

  • The Association celebrates this honor with SPARK Publications, the creative firm that works with PPAI to design each issue.

  • In total, there were over 4,000 entries to the award program from ad agencies, digital agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms.

  • The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts is an invitation-only member-based organization. The Communicator Awards focus on the goal of acknowledging work that “transcends craft—work that made a lasting impact, and provides an equal chance of winning to all entrants regardless of company or agency size and project budget.”

  • All of the awards are showcased through the organization’s Interactive Showcase Gallery.

The Future

As part of its new strategic plan unveiled in January, PPAI has put a renewed focus on content and delivery in order to maintain outstanding coverage with the evolving landscape of the promotional products industry.

  • “PPAI is making investments in delivering significantly more valuable content to benefit our members,” Denham says. “Good visuals like this one help draw people into the content, especially important as so many content providers vie for our members’ attention. I am proud of this award and even more proud of the increased value that our team continues to deliver.”

  • More changes and a continued evolution of the magazine and PPAI Media are already underway and expected to be announced over the coming year.
