Pantone-Colors-Of-The-YearPantone has revealed its Color of the Year for 2016. For the first time, it is a blend of two shades, PANTONE 13-1520, Rose Quartz—a warm rose tone—and PANTONE 15-3919, Serenity, which is a cool blue. It follows PANTONE 18-1438, Marsala, the 2015 Color of the Year.

“With the whole greater than its individual parts, joined together Serenity and Rose Quartz demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone’s full announcement of the Color of the Year 2016 can be found here.

Pantone’s color of the year selection is based on a number of influences, including the entertainment industry and films that are in production, traveling art collections, hot new artists, popular travel destinations and other socioeconomic conditions. The company says influences may also stem from technology, availability of new textures and effects that impact color, and even upcoming sports events that capture worldwide attention.

The colors selected as the Pantone Color of the Year 2016 were taken from the PANTONE FASHION, HOME + INTERIORS Color System. This August, PANTONE released 210 new colors to the system. PANTONE 15-3919, Serenity, and PANTONE 13-1520, Rose Quartz, are included in this collection of 210 new shades. For more information, click here.
