Tina Berres Filipski, former director of publications and editor at PPAI, has joined Ottawa, Ontario-based suppler PowerStick (PPAI 383252, S8) as its new director of corporate relations.

Last year, Filipski announced her plans to leave PPAI following The PPAI Expo in January. After onboarding new PPAI Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Josh Ellis, she continued to contribute to PPB magazine through the spring, even writing the June issue's cover story.

The Position: Filipski is filling a newly created role at the company and will be responsible for increasing its visibility throughout the promotional products industry with news releases, story placements and by leveraging her strong industry relationships honed over the past 26 years at PPAI. Filipski will be based in Texas.

“I’m excited to join this amazing company,” Filipski says. “I became familiar with PowerStick during my years at PPAI and was always impressed with how Nigel operated the company and the positive and productive environment he created as well as the high-quality tech products the company manufactures. I never dreamed I’d have the chance to work for this company. It’s an incredible opportunity to use my writing and relationship skills from a fresh perspective to help PowerStick achieve even greater levels of success.”

The Company: PowerStick CEO Nigel Harris founded the company in 2011 and launched the original PowerStick Classic charger, and the supplier has expanded its line to include a wider range of personal electronics. It’s also earned significant industry recognition since then:

  • The PowerStick Classic won the Best of Show Award at the Consumer Electronics Show and PowerStick is a nine-time winner of the CES Innovations and Engineering award.
  • PowerStick is a four-time winner of PPB’s Greatest Companies To Work For competition—2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. It won a 2022 PPAI Pyramid Award in Supplier Decorating for its capabilities in etching, engraving and laser decoration.
  • It was named one of Canada’s National Capital Region Fastest Growing Companies by the Ottawa Business Journal in 2013.

“We have grown our business by consistently delivering high-quality consumer technology solutions in innovative packaging to promotional products distributors,” Harris says. “With new sales targets set for the next 10 years, we need to increase our visibility, and I am thrilled that Tina has agreed to join PowerStick as our first director of corporate relations.

“I have worked with Tina over the years on a number of PPAI projects and have always been impressed by her knowledge and professionalism. She will be a tremendous asset to this organization.”
