Supplier Beacon Promotions (PPAI 113702) has been recognized by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), a trade association that supports the digital and screen printing community, for its sustainable business practices in 2017. The SGIA bestows its recognition on businesses that have completed several projects that improve safety and health, reduce environmental impact or improve business efficiency in their workplaces.

New Ulm, Minnesota-headquartered Beacon Promotions’ projects reflects accomplishments in all three areas in 2017:

  • Its efforts to improve employee safety and health include the establishment of a safety team and the implementation of monthly safety audits throughout the facility. Audit findings are recorded and resolved each month.
  • The company has reduced its environmental impact by completing a total of 11 energy-conservation projects throughout the facility, including installing occupancy sensors throughout the office, break rooms and restrooms; state of the art office lighting that automatically adjusts with outside sunlight; 25 percent LED High Bay replacements in the factory production area; LED replacement of all outside lighting around the facility and parking lot; and program controlled air compressor functions. These combined projects tallied to a total savings of $12,000 from 2016 to 2017 in electrical costs.
  • Beacon Promotions achieved improved business efficiency by integrating all business production to one location, reducing the amount of travel between sites for employees and moving warehouse inventory.

Manufacturing Maintenance Manager Bryan Sellner says, “I want to thank Beacon’s safety team for their dedication to the safety of our employees, as well as the engineering team for their continual efforts to find more efficient ways throughout the facility and production areas to conserve energy and decrease our carbon footprint.”
