MiPPA’s End Buyer Show Draws Strong Crowds, Education


PPAI President and CEO Paul Bellantone, CAE, joined MiPPA’s Promotions That Roar! end buyer event to speak on the power of promotional products.

The Michigan Promotional Products Association (MiPPA) brought the promotional products industry to Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions in downtown Detroit, on October 15 for Promotions That Roar!, the regional association’s first end-user show.

The day kicked off with a keynote presentation by PPAI President and CEO Paul Bellantone, CAE, who spoke on the power of promotional products to a standing room-only crowd of more than 175 distributors and end users in Ford Field’s Hall of Legends.

Bellantone said he was impressed by the end users in the crowd. “The buyers at Promotions That Roar! were there to talk about campaigns and about the right products for their brands, not just prices and quantities,” he says. “They represented some of the biggest employers in the region, including auto parts suppliers and OEM manufacturers, and they understood what promotional products were about and that they were a part of their marketing plans.”

With 80 industry suppliers exhibiting, show drew a crowd of more than 700 distributor and end-buyer attendees. On hand to assist were 15 students from the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) program at the local school district’s tech center, and stadium tours throughout the day included a look at the locker rooms, the rooftop suite, the press boxes and the playing field.

Promotions That Roar! concluded with an awards ceremony and reception, honoring MiPPA Past Presidents Scott Petrowski and Tim Stedman with the regional association’s Outstanding Service Award.

“Promotions That Roar! signaled that MiPPA is back,” says MiPPA Executive Director Paul Kiewiet, MAS. “Both the distributor and supplier sides of the industry were very excited about the show, and it highlights the real need for collaboration and communication across all channels of distribution. It was also a bit of a risk for us, as we kept it ‘members only.’ We signed up or renewed more than 40 members before the event, showing that a show like this can drive membership as well.”
