On May 21, Bob Lilly Jr., owner of Bob Lilly Professional Promotions (UPIC: BOBL8430), visited PPAI’s offices in Irving, Texas. A local business owner—his distributorship’s offices are located in Dallas—he joined an all-staff PPAI meeting to share the story of his company and his philosophy on doing business in the promotional products industry.

Lilly grew up surrounded by football and the Dallas Cowboys. His father, Bob Lilly Sr., was a defensive tackle with America’s Team, with a career running from 1961 to 1974. Lilly came by his competitive spirit naturally, helping make the company he started in 1999 a successful promotional products distributorship. Today, Bob Lilly Professional Promotions, which he runs with his wife, Julie, employs 16 people and has plans to launch new offices throughout Texas.
Speaking to PPAI’s staff, Lilly shared his outlook on what makes a distributorship successful: “We go to market as a solution-oriented company. Advertising, design, distribution—all of these are commodities in today’s market. But if you take each vertical, listen to your customer and give them a customized solution that meets their needs, then you’re doing something unique. Show them the ROI, and they’ll come back to you.”
