Bioworld Merchandising Inc., an Irving, Texas-based distributor, has acquired Global Design Concepts (GDC), a distributor of licensed, branded and private-label accessories for children. Bioworld also has offices in Europe, China, India and Canada and is known for licensed pop culture products for entertainment brands. GDC, located in New York City, has a sample room in Shenzhen, China where it produces a reported 40 million fashion accessories and customized promotional products annually.

"We were impressed by GDC's stellar reputation and strong manufacturing presence in Asia," says Raj Malik, Bioworld CEO. "I am confident in our teams' shared passion for providing consumers with products that truly embody the brands they love, and I look forward to the success this union will bring."

Bioworld first ventured into children's accessories when it acquired Nolan Glove Co. in 2014. GDC will further Bioworld's growth in this sector of the market by providing access to brands like Marvel, Disney, Nickelodeon, Nintendo and Shopkins, as well as its expertise in children's backpacks, lunch kits and luggage. GDC's strong presence in Asia will also provide Bioworld with 10 additional factories.
