Supplier Storm Creek (PPAI 438091, S6), headquartered southeast of St. Paul, Minnesota, has become a business member of the 1% for the Planet movement. Beginning this month, the company will pledge the equivalent of one percent of sales of its new Eco-Collection, through a combination of monetary, in-kind and approved promotional support, directly to nonprofits that create positive change for the environment.

“Nonprofit organizations play a key role in solving many critical challenges facing our planet,” says Storm Creek President Doug Jackson. “The decision to join 1% for the Planet comes from our company’s increased commitment to sustainability throughout our product line. Our driving goal is to connect with nonprofits who will put our dollars into action in order to create positive solutions to the complex environmental problems of our time.”

Storm Creek recently launched its Eco-Collection, which includes a variety of styles made from at least 35-percent recycled post-consumer waste such as plastic bottles. Since switching to recycled fabrics and insulation less than a year ago, Storm Creek has already saved over a million plastic bottles from ending up in landfills or the oceans.

“Our personal relationships with some of the top factories in the world have allowed us to move to more and more sustainable fabrics without sacrificing quality,” Jackson adds. “We will continue to integrate recycled fabrics into every new product developed at Storm Creek, as well as upgrade our current in-line styles. Our goal is to be fully BLUESIGN rated by 2023—we are poised to make even more progress towards reducing our environmental footprint.”
