Reciprocity Road has named A Place At The Table as recipient of its 2020 first-quarter grant. The organization was nominated by Danny Rosin, CAS, co-president of distributor Brand Fuel, a member of Reciprocity Road.

Reciprocity Road is an alliance of nine distributors located across the U.S and Canada with combined sales of approximately $220 million.

A Place at The Table is a nonprofit café that brings people together in the Raleigh, North Carolina, area regardless of race, religion or income to enjoy a healthy meal and connect through kindness. The café is run by young, social entrepreneurs who are attracting and inspiring a new generation of go-givers, and much of the food comes from local farms and is prepared by culinary masters.

“With this much-appreciated RR donation of $500, The Table will be able to feed approximately 125 food-insecure people healthy meals during a time when we truly must cherish and support a community in need. Thank you for continuing with this BrandGood effort. It is truly inspiring and uplifting,” says Rosin, who is also a board member of A Place at The Table.

Rosin also says he shared coffee with a man who he later realized was carrying his home, a tent, with him into the café. The man mentioned that through volunteering at the café, he had gained a sense of confidence in humanity, something he had not felt in a long time. His intent was to use his volunteer skills gained at The Table to apply for a fast-food job opportunity.

Perry Wehrle, MAS, executive director for Reciprocity Road, adds, “Two years in, this innovative model has provided 19,527 healthy meals to the homeless population. During these volatile times, communities need to keep nonprofits like The Table running. It is a pleasure to be able to support such an organization.”
