Earlier this month, PPAI Director of Membership Services Natalie Clark was named to the board of the Dallas Fort Worth Association Executives (DFWAE), an organization serving association executives in North Texas. Clark was sworn in on July 17 at a luncheon recognizing the DFWAE 2019-2020 board of directors and will serve a two-year term.

She spoke with PPB Newslink about experiences with DFWAE and what her role means to PPAI.

PPB Newslink: How long have you been involved with the organization?

Natalie Clark: I became a member of the DFWAE five years ago, shortly after joining PPAI. DFWAE is a nonprofit with a purpose to help local association executives develop standards of service and conduct, and to enhance their knowledge and competence. I was new to the association world when joining PPAI, so I needed the guidance and the resources they provided.

PPB Newslink: What sort of duties/responsibilities/activities will your new role include?

Clark: DFWAE is a working board, so I’ll be the liaison to the Sponsorship Committee. Along with that, we serve the members by reviewing the annual budget, by-laws, policies and procedures, strategic plan, and financials. Our key objectives this year outside of the standard governance responsibilities will be to focus on the strategic plan and financial audit.

PPB Newslink: How does your involvement benefit your role at PPAI?

Clark: The mission of DFWAE is to serve the association community by promoting professionalism, encouraging leadership development and facilitating the exchange of ideas and information through quality programs and services. With that said, it provides a platform for me to learn best practices in all aspects of association management that I plan to bring to PPAI. Moreover, PPAI has a solid and progressive foundation of best practices that I can share with other associations to help the association community at large. On a personal note, the opportunity to serve on a board has been a long-awaited goal of mine and I’m quite happy and honored to be serving on the DFWAE Board through 2021.
