Ken Mayer of Regina, Saskatchewan, distributor ProCrest (PPAI 384543, D1) passed away on July 11 after a battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. He was 66.

Following graduation from the University of Regina, Mayer joined his father at the family business, Promislow’s Ltd. His brother Terry also later came onboard and the two worked at the company, now known as ProCrest, for 28 years. Mayer retired from the company in 2019.

Outside the office, Mayer’s interests were wide and varied. He was a pilot, scuba diver, skier, snowboarder, water-skier, photographer, potter, avid fisherman and golfer. His passion for the outdoors saw many fishing adventures with the guys, snowmobiling at the beach, as well as ski trips and fishing trips with his wife and kids. He was known for his love of pranks, tricks and jokes.

Mayer was a longtime resident of Regina Beach and an active community member, and one of the things he was most proud of was being a Cub Leader with the Boy Scouts. He also loved owning a winter home in Bucerias, Mexico, for more than 15 years. An accomplished swimmer, he spent considerable time in the waters of Last Mountain Lake and the Bay of Banderas.

Mayer was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Donna, children Rylan, Renn and Jenna; siblings Gordon, Robert and Terry; grandchildren Luckus, Jacob, Ryder and Julia; numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, an intimate, private gathering with a full celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society, 150 Albert Street, Regina, Saskatchewan S4R 2N2, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 2R3.
