Hit Promotional Products Issues Ceramic Mug Recall
Hit Promotional Products (PPAI 113910, S13), in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a recall on ceramic mugs due to burn and laceration hazards. The mugs can crack or break when used with or exposed to hot liquid. St. Petersburg, Florida-based Hit Promotional Products, which initiated the recall, has received 10 reports of the mugs cracking or breaking when in use with hot liquids, although no injuries have been reported.
Between October 2018 and September 2019, approximately 3,300 of 34,000 mugs included in the recall were given as promotional products at meetings and events nationwide. The mugs are decorated with various logos and come in a variety of colors with a gray bottom. “China” is printed on the bottom of each mug.
“The #8149 Coastline Ceramic Mug was a new item introduced in October of 2018,” says Hit Promotional Products Compliance Manager Nathan Cotter. “During that time, 37 orders for 3,321 total pieces were produced, while the remainder of the total listed on the recall announcement remain in Hit’s possession and will be destroyed. Hit has a process for investigating any claim of defective product that could result in a hazard to the consumer. Complaints around this product were investigated and as a result Hit discontinued sales and initiated a product recall on October 29.”
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mugs and contact Hit Promotional Products for a free replacement mug.
