Green-Girls-Robotics

Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, supplier Halls & Company (UPIC: IDLINE), manufacturer of ID Line, is sponsoring the Green Girls Robotics Team, based out of Eagan, Minnesota.

The Green Girls Robotics Team is an all-girls robotics team competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). They started out in 2010 competing in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) before moving up to compete in FTC in 2013. They placed first at the regional level last year and placed sixth at the state level. So far in FTC they have placed second for the Inspire award at their second regional tournament and sixth at state. In addition to competing, the Green Girls participate in community outreach during the offseason to increase the awareness among girls about science and robotics.

Beverly Napurski, CAS, vice president of marketing at Halls & Company, says, “We liked the fact that [Green Girls] is an all-girl team in a STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] project, and by partnering with them we hope we can give the girls an idea of what they can do with their expertise.”

Because the team members are entering the ninth grade, Napurski says, “Natural application of what they’re learning in the real world for manufacturing makes for an interesting partnership.”
