The Omicron variant is hampering FedEx’s operations. The delivery firm announced this week that it was suspending its domestic express freight services due to staff shortages. Today it reported that the FedEx Express air network was experiencing a temporary shortage of available crew members and operational staff.

FedEx’s economy domestic FedEx express freight suspension includes its two-day and three-day freight services. On Monday, however, the company resumed its previously paused international economy freight pick-up services.

This week’s air network difficulties follows a similar announcement in January regarding the explosive surge of the COVID-10 Omicron variant. The company reports that it is implementing contingency plans and adjusting operations to minimize delays while continuing to maintain its service levels.
