Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Commissioner Ann Marie Buerkle will be speaking at PPAI’s Product Responsibility Summit next month in Bethesda, Maryland. Buerkle was appointed to the CPSC by President Barack Obama in May 2013 and was confirmed by the Senate in June of that year. Her term expires in October 2018.
In 2011, Buerkle was elected to Congress to represent New York’s 25th district. During her time in Congress, she served on the Oversight & Government Reform, Foreign Affairs and Veterans’ Affairs Committees. She served as chair of the Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health. While in Congress, Buerkle was also appointed by Obama to serve as a United States Representative to the 66th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Prior to her election to Congress, Buerkle worked at a private law firm and was appointed in 1997 by then-Attorney General Dennis Vacco as an assistant New York state attorney general representing the State of New York on behalf of Upstate Medical University. She held that role for 13 years.
