Members of the Chesapeake Promotional Products Association (CPPA) volunteered at the Fidos for Freedom Golf Classic, on August 16 at the Blue Mash Golf Course in Laytonville, Maryland.

“I am so proud of our Philanthropy Committee, and CPPA members for their willingness to donate their time to support Fidos for Freedom at many events throughout the year. In a year where so many of our members have been hit hard due to the pandemic, it is refreshing to see the spirit of giving is alive and well amongst our CPPA members. I couldn’t be prouder!” says Cheryl Hokanson, MAS, president of Brand Booster and CPPA vice president and committee chair.

Hokanson, along with Cliff Quicksell, MAS+, board president, and board members Michelle Reed, Bruce Copeland, and Beche Sprig and her daughter Brytt, were on hand to staff the “Roll to the Hole” game on the No. 5 tee box. As each team approached the tee, they were encouraged to better their chances on the par-five hole by rolling the dice for a better starting position. For $20, one of the members rolled the dice once and depending on the number, advanced accordingly. The CPPA team netted $640 from 20 teams.

Fidos for Freedom works to enhance the quality of life and independence for persons with mobility impairments, hearing loss and veterans with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan community by providing therapy dog support and comfort to people in healthcare/educational settings. Thegroup also provides community/public service for youth between the ages of 12-17 in its Junior Program.

“I was so impressed with the Fidos for Freedom golf event, and it was a pleasure to participate,” says Quicksell. “I would encourage all regional associations, if you do not currently have a philanthropic program, do so—it is such a rewarding endeavor. CPPA loves giving back and our committee does such an amazing job bringing these great causes to the forefront.”

Diane Bernier, executive director of Fidos For Freedom, Inc., adds, “Fidos is so pleased to be partners with CPPA. CPPA has supported us in multiple ways this year and the most being the Fidos For Freedom Charity Golf Classic where they ran the Role the Hole game collecting $640 for Fidos!”
