Canada’s Government Details Pandemic, Technology Aid Programs For Businesses

The Canadian government has released new information on emergency benefit offerings and its federal 2021 budget and key programs for businesses. Promotional Product Professionals of Canada (PPPC) has compiled details of the government’s proposed programs that may be applicable to Canadian promotional products companies.

The government’s budget would extend the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) to September 21, 2021. Previously, the programs were to end on June 6. The budget also includes the Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP), which will run from June 6 to November 20, 2021, and provide as much as 50 percent of incremental pay to workers, whether that’s through higher wages, more hours or new hires. It is designed to work in conjunction with CEWS.

Also in the budget is the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) to provide micro-grants to smaller, Main-Street businesses to support costs associated with technology adoption.

For more information on these programs, the PPPC has prepared a summary here.
