Five Minutes With: Teddi Mellancamp & Brett Marz
Teddi Mellancamp, founder and owner of accountability coaching business ALL IN by Teddi, and reality star on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, partnered with distributor BAMKO to create a functional collection of athletic apparel and accessories, available online, to draw attention to her brand, while providing livable, breathable and workable products to help clients reach their health and fitness goals. PPB talks with Mellancamp and Brett Marz, president of BAMKO, about their partnership.
PPB: Teddi, what was your vision for starting a new collection for your accountability coaching business, ALL IN by Teddi?
Mellancamp I live an active lifestyle and I am in athletic gear 80 percent of the time, so I wanted a line of products that I would wear and use—clothing that was comfortable and accessories that were practical in a range of prices and styles, so that there’s something for everybody.
PPB Tell us about the apparel and accessories offered, and what makes them unique. How many items are currently part of the collection?
Marz The accessories being offered are useful. That is something that we really wanted to focus on with this line. We want to make products that people can use in their daily lives and/or when they are working out.
Mellancamp We have about 19 items in the collection, and one thing I love is our #TeddiMadeMeDoIt catch phrase, which is unique to the ALL IN brand.
PPB What led to your partnership with BAMKO?
Mellancamp I met Brett and his wife at the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and always appreciated their work ethic and family dynamic.
PPB Did you experience any challenges while working on the collection?
Marz The challenge is always trying to balance quality with price points that appeal to the masses. We know there are people who want higher-quality products and we have options for that, but we wanted affordable products that were clean and useful that could remind people about the messaging with this line. This is about a lifestyle, and if you have a constant reminder about the messaging, it’s a win for everyone. Trying to ensure the products were useful, affordable and fit with Teddi’s brand was a challenge, but we believe we have picked the right assortment based on selling out of products within the first few hours and having to restock four times already.
PPB What are some of the branding, marketing and design solutions that BAMKO is providing?
Marz BAMKO has been able to provide everything when it comes to the branding, design and marketing support. BAMKO truly has expertise in this area, and for people who are not in this industry, that can make or break a line of merchandise.
PPB Will viewers of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills be able to catch a glimpse of your line on the show?
Mellancamp Unfortunately, not this season.
