Clean Beaches Week, which runs from July 1-7, is kind of like Earth Day—but for beaches. The Clean Beaches Coalition started the event in 2003 to promote clean, healthy and well-managed beaches around the world. The efforts are greatly needed. In 2020, nearly 2.6 million pounds of trash were collected along U.S. shorelines. Cigarette butts were the most-tossed items, followed by food wrappers and plastic bottle caps, according to Statista.

Clean Beaches Week is an ideal time for beach cleanup organizations and other environmental groups to spread awareness, attract volunteers and educate communities. Keep reading this issue of Promotional Consultant Today for a few promotional ideas.
