For millions of people, the focus on improving physical, mental and spiritual health has moved beyond trendiness and now enjoys a permanent place in the lifestyle column. We sign up for fitness challenges, dedicate hours at the local gym and enroll in workplace wellness programs.

Wearable technology remains a top fitness trend this year, according to Health magazine. Also on the list for 2017 are body-weight training, high-intensity interval training

(HIIT), personal training education, group training and outdoor activities.

The wellness industry worldwide is a trillion-dollar business. Mind/body fitness revenues clocked in at nearly $400 billion in 2016, while nutrition and weight-loss programs racked up nearly $300 billion in sales. The digital fitness category, which includes wearable technology such as fitness bands and trackers, is now a $330 million market.

Over the next five years, growth in this market is expected to explode, with an increase of 17 percent. That means if the fitness and nutrition market is not on your company’s client radar, it should be. To maximize your outcome, get to know this industry inside and out, and help your clients and prospects pair their messages with promotional items that are both useful and appealing.

Getting In On The Ground Floor

Corporate wellness can extend beyond the office. Connect with meeting planners, hotels and conference centers who want to offer their clients the most well-rounded meeting experience possible—including opportunities for wellness. In the office, human resources personnel are the go-to contact for establishing or enhancing workplace health and wellness programs.

Owners and marketing directors for gyms and fitness centers are just as eager to keep clients as they are to sign new ones; suggest reward programs for clients that want to engender loyalty among their customer base; gym memberships that increase in value over time through a points system, or that earn members discounts on classes and private coaching sessions.

Public health, under the umbrella of government services and as a department in many healthcare facilities, works to inform and engage the community at large about making healthy choices through nutrition and exercise. Community food banks and public health offices can take advantage of promotional products to help spread messages among constituents and target audiences.

Case studies from the industry

Revolutionary Fitness Campaign

Supplier Logomark created a campaign aimed at encouraging clients to stick

to their New Year’s resolutions while also introducing new catalog items. Participants in the 2017 Resolution Revolution campaign were asked to submit inspirational stories to be eligible for prizes, including a health club package and FitBit fitness trackers. Logomark promoted the Resolution Revolution campaign on its website and social media channels with weekly product launches, using the hashtag #ResolutionRevolution.

More than 300 people submitted their resolutions in the 10-week period from late 2016 to early 2017. “New Year’s resolutions are a great opportunity to think positively and find ways for self-improvement,” says Logomark CEO Trevor Gnesin. “This campaign helped people to discuss their resolutions and also showcases our capabilities in providing branded products and solutions that help people turn their resolutions into reality.”

Juicing Up Fitness

A client was looking for an incentive gift for a fitness program for employees,

who were encouraged to lead healthy lives by eating nutritious meals and exercising regularly. They were given activity trackers to wear and asked to monitor their progress by logging into an internal website and recording their activities.

Employees who accomplished their goals were rewarded with a Juice Box powerbank from Origaudio. The branded powerbank was packaged in a box designed to resemble a juice box. The packaging was fully customized with the client’s logo, and inspiring messages and tips about benefits were printed on all sides of the box. The program was a tremendous success; the client ran out of Juice Boxes due to the overwhelming number of participants who accomplished their goals, and had to double the reorder.
