Marketers Shift Focus In Response To Economic Concerns

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) reports that while confidence in the growth of direct marketing remains strong, most marketers recognize the possibility of an economic downturn. Its fourth quarter 2015 survey found that only 52.1 percent of data-driven marketing (DDM) practitioners were entering 2016 confident in the U.S. economy, with most respondents (45.2 percent) saying they were “somewhat confident.” Read More »

Five HanesBrands Plants Earn EPA Efficiency Status

Five of HanesBrands’ manufacturing plants have earned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star Challenge for Industry awards by reducing energy use by an average of 18 percent. The plants—in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Thailand and Vietnam—bring to 23 the number of the company’s manufacturing facilities that have earned the honor. CPSC Levies A Record $15.4 Million Penalty

On March 25, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Gree Electric Appliances Inc., of Zhuhai, China; Hong Kong Gree Electric Appliances Sales Co. Ltd., of Hong Kong; and Gree USA Sales Ltd., of City of Industry, California, have agreed to pay a record civil penalty of $15.45 million. The fine is the largest the CPSC has levied and is near the maximum penalty the commission can issue. Read More »

Cintas Corporation Up 6.8 Percent In Third Quarter

Distributor Cintas Corporation (UPIC: CINTP001) has released third quarter results for fiscal year 2016, which ended February 29. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based company reported revenue for the quarter of $1.216 billion, an increase of 9.7 percent over the same period last year, and, adjusted for the impacts of acquisitions and foreign currency exchange rate fluctuations, growth of 6.8 percent. J. America, Inc. Announces Investment By Blue Point Capital Partners

Apparel supplier J. America, Inc. (UPIC: Blanks) has announced the recapitalization of the Webberville, Michigan, company in partnership with Cleveland-based private equity firm, Blue Point Capital Partners. J. America has served the licensed apparel and promotional products industry for more than 20 years and was founded by Jeff Fenech, Jeff Radway and Peter Ruhala, who will continue to run the business and own a significant stake in the company.
