Ennis, Inc. To Expand Operations Through PrintXcel And Printegra Acquisitions

Ennis, Inc. (UPIC: ennis), a Midlothian, Texas-based manufacturer of printed business products and apparel, will acquire certain assets of Cenveo’s document business. These include manufacturing facilities under the names PrintXcel—located in Fairhope, Alabama; Visalia, California; Toledo, Ohio; and Clarkesville, Tennessee—and Printegra—Livermore, California; Smyrna, Georgia; Indianapolis, Indiana; Greensboro, North Carolina; Fairport, New York; and Arlington, Texas. The transaction is expected to close in February 2012.

“Ennis is pleased to add new locations and new products to our growing number of brands,” says Keith Walters, chairman, president and CEO of Ennis. “This is a major addition to the Ennis family. This acquisition expands our check capabilities and capacity while adding new customers. In addition, it will add color capabilities as well as bringing VersaSeal to our brand names. Like Ennis, PrintXcel and Printegra have been serving the distributor market for more than 80 years, and we feel this addition will positively impact customers of both companies.”

The facilities Ennis has acquired will continue to operate under their respective trade names, while Ennis will continue to manufacture and market the VersaSeal pressure seal product line. The acquisition also expands the company’s high color commercial print capabilities and business check product lines. These will be sold through Ennis’ network of 40,000+ independent distributors. The acquisition is expected to grow Ennis’ earnings in the first full year of operations, while all PrintXcel and Printegra employees will be offered positions with Ennis’ new organization. Customers can continue contacting all of the locations through their usual methods, and no changes are expected in day-to-day operations.
