Staples Survey Finds Majority Of Businesses Pursue Eco-Conscious Practices

Just ahead of Earth Day on April 22, Staples, Inc. has released the results of its latest Sustainability Survey. The company, which participates in the promotional products industry as distributor Staples Promotional Products (PPAI 108945), found that more than 90 percent of businesses practice some form of eco-friendly activity regularly, including recycling, making energy-efficient choices, and/or shopping for more eco-friendly products.

“Making daily green choices is not a trend, it is a regular ritual and a priority for our customers,” says Mark Buckley, vice president, environmental affairs, Staples, Inc. “Our survey found that both businesses and individuals engage in some form of regular eco-friendly activity both in the workplace and at home, and are actively seeking environmentally conscious choices.”

The study found that 89 percent of businesses and consumers believe that eco-friendly products are the same or higher quality than non-eco products. It also anayzed consumers’ recycling habits, finding that 74 percent recycle containers made of glass, metal or plastic but only 51 percent recycle electronics, and it found that 59 percent of businesses implement one or more energy-efficient practices.

Staples’ survey was conducted online by Frank N. Magid Associates, Inc. from December 28, 2016 to January 6, 2017, and included 600 U.S. consumers and 1,300 businesses (small businesses to commercial and enterprises). Those surveyed were the office or household product and service decision maker or influencer.
