Carol Cave, deputy director of the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) Office of Compliance and Field Operations, will be joining the PPAI Product Responsibility Summit’s speaker lineup this September. Cave will host an interactive simulation of a national product safety recall with summit attendees, giving them an up-close look at crisis management from regulatory, legal and public perception perspectives. The session, Recall Crisis! It Finally Happened! Now What?, features Cave along with panelists Cheryl Falvey, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s Advertising & Product Risk Management Group, and Ryan Cudney, Edelman's senior vice presdient of corporate reputation and risk management.

Cave joined the CSPC in 1992 after a number of years working with the Department of Defense. Starting in the Office of Epidemiology as a program analyst, she later moved to the Office of Compliance as a compliance officer, where she focused on product safety issues that were not reported to the CPSC. After rising to director of Field Operations, Cave was tasked with launching the Import Surveillance Program in 2008. After growing the program to its own office within the CPSC, she was promoted to her current deputy director role.

The 2016 PPAI Product Responsibility Summit includes two days of education featuring distinguished speakers, industry thought leaders and representatives from product safety labs and product certification groups. All Summit attendees will also receive a binder containing best practices, protocols and resource materials based on the five pillars of compliance.
