United Way of Jasper County has recognized Newton, Iowa-based distributor The Vernon Company with its inaugural Champion of United Way Award.
At the organization’s 2015 annual meeting and awards celebration, Jessica Lowe, executive director for UWJC, presented the award to company representatives. She says, “Vernon has gone above and beyond in its efforts to help United Way meet its goals, share its mission, and provide United Way with the tools, resources and volunteers necessary to make positive change in our community.”
Over the past five years, Vernon and its employees have raised nearly $97,000 for United Way of Jasper County. Additionally, the company has provided on-site presentations to employees about the importance of UWJC, 86 employees have donated more than $144 on average, 21 employees have contributed to the campaign at the Leadership Level of $250 or more, and most recently, the company raised $24,131 for the UWJC campaign
