PPB has won a silver Azbee Award of Excellence from ASBPE (American Society of Business Publication Editors) Midwest/South Region in the category of Feature Article Design for its May 2012 feature “TurboTest: A Product Safety Roadmap.” The feature was written by PPB Editor Tina Berres Filipski and designed by PPB art director In Churl Yo, principal of Yo Media, Inc.
The feature’s objective was to help readers learn about a revolutionary new tool, PPAI’s TurboTest, to navigate through the complexities of product safety regulations.
“Demonstrating the interactivity of the tool to readers in a print magazine challenged us to look at things differently,” says Filipski. “That’s when In Churl got the idea to turn the page vertically. Not only did the vertical treatment work effectively to demonstrate the tool’s online mechanism but the unconventional approach also drew readers into and through the article and added an unexpected flair to a rather complex topic.”
With more than 60 categories, the Azbee Awards of Excellence program is one of the most competitive contests for B2B online and print publications in the U.S.
The award was presented last week at the ASBPE Midwest-South Regional Azbee Awards Banquet in Chicago. See all winners in the region here.
