PBB Newslink Breaking News June 13: Evans Manufacturing Announces Collaboration With Jo-Bee Line

Supplier Evans Manufacturing (UPIC: EVANS), headquartered in Garden Grove, California, has announced an agreement to acquire the Jo-Bee line of products and related equipment from Economy Pen and Pencil Co. (UPIC: jo-bee), which is closing its doors later this summer.

“The addition of the Jo-Bee line of products allows us to enter the pencil and school categories with a comprehensive collection in place, while also helping us to expand our writing instrument category,” says Shelley Sake, MAS, vice president of marketing at Evans. “Evans and Jo-Bee share very similar core values of providing quality products with outstanding sales and customer service. It’s a win-win situation.

”Economy Pen and Pencil, a family-owned business, is closing after 65 years in business. David Pitner, owner of the company, will be working with Evans Manufacturing in a consulting role to ensure a smooth transition. During this process, business will remain as usual at both facilities. Pitner says: “While this is an emotional time for our family, I’ve been very impressed with the total quality emphasis, marketing and customer reach that Evans can bring to our line. My brother Allen and I want to thank all of our customers and employees for their continued support. We are happy to see a part of our family history survive and thrive with Evans Manufacturing.”
