Arthur Lewis Mostow, founder of Art Crystal, Ltd. (UPIC: SKYLINE), passed away on October 21. He was 79. Mostow is survived by his wife, Sonia, and children Arion, Aaron and Crystal.
Mostow graduated from the University of Illinois, served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and received a law degree from the University of Chicago. A successful entrepreneur, he started a number of companies, among them Majestic Distributors, American Heritage Industries, E.A. Carey Pipe Company, the Selective Gift Institute, Union Pen and Pencil, Tapscott’s and Art Crystal, Ltd.
A statement from the staff at Art Crystal reads: “With over 40 years of experience, Arthur was truly one of the most experienced and accomplished members of this industry. He was a visionary, the likes of which are few and far between. Simply put, Art Crystal, Ltd. would not be the company it is today without him. Those of us fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work with Arthur will always remember his passion, his positivity and his relentless desire to be on the cutting edge of industry.”
A memorial service for Mostow was held at Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard, Illinois, on October 24.
