Six District Reps Elected To RAC Board
The industry’s regional associations have completed their elections, sending six new district representatives to the RAC (Regional Association Council) Board of Directors. The new representatives will begin their board terms immediately following the RAC Delegate Assembly at The PPAI Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January 2012.

District 1 (East Coast) Representative: Rebecca McLaughlin, CAS
Rebecca McLaughlin, CAS, is the sales and operations manager at CPS/Keystone (UPIC: keystone) in Erie, Pennsylvania. She’s been with the company, and the promotional products industry, for seven years. McLaughlin has been involved with the Three Rivers Advertising Specialty Association (TRASA) for the past six years, including three spent on the association’s board. She has served as TRASA’s show chair for two years, was its vice president in 2010 and is serving as the association’s president through 2011.

District 2 (Southeast) Representatives: Eric Carr and Michael Legel
Based in Georgia, Eric Carr is the territory sales manager at HIT Promotional Products (UPIC: HITP0001). Carr joined the industry in 1997 with RCC (UPIC: RCC) in San Antonio, Texas. For the past 14 years, he has worked as a supplier rep for companies including Lanco (UPIC: LANC0001), Adva-Lite (UPIC: ADVALITE) and the Magnet Group (UPIC: THEM8674). Carr was elected to the Carolinas Association of Advertising and Marketing Professionals’ (CAAMP) board in 1999 and has served on the Georgia Association of Promotional Products Professionals (GAPPP) since 2007. He has been GAPPP president twice. Carr has been elected to a two-year district representative seat.

Michael Legel joined Pompano Beach, Florida-based Continental Plastic Card (UPIC: QUICARD) five years ago, right after graduating from Florida Atlantic University. Today, his responsibilities at the company include marketing, tradeshows, purchasing and business development. Legel has served on the Gold Coast Promotional Products Association (GCPPA) for two years and is responsible for the association’s social media campaign. He is also involved in its FLIPP (Future Leaders in Promotional Products) program, created to educate young or less-experienced members to the opportunities GCPPA offers. Legel has planned and hosted eight sold-out FLIPP social networking events, and in his first year on the GCPPA board, he was nominated for the RAC Volunteer of the Year. Legel has been elected to a one-year district representative seat.

District 3 (Midwest) Representative: Donna Vorce, CAS
Donna Vorce, CAS, was re-elected to her District 3 seat. Vorce owns First Impressions (UPIC: firstimp), a certified woman-owned promotional products company located in Columbus, Ohio. She has served on the Ohio Promotional Products Association (OPPA) board for six years, including board president in 2008. Vorce has chaired tradeshows in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, served as the RAC delegate for two years and currently serves as the legislative liaison. An active member of her community, Vorce has twice received the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Award. Currently, she is the vice president of the RAC Board and a director of the RAC’s Business Recovery Fund.

District 4 (Mid South) Representative: Tom Carpenter, CAS
Tom Carpenter, CAS, brings 15+ years of experience working in the promotional products industry, both on the distributor and supplier sides. His career began with World Wide Art Studios before stints with Gold Bond, Inc. (UPIC: GOLD0008) and Corvest (UPIC: PARKP011). Currently, Carpenter is regional manager for the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the I-35 Corridor for Scarborough Specialties (UPIC: SCARSPEC). In 2007, he was elected to the Promotional Products Association Southwest (PPAS), later serving as the association’s president in 2010. Carpenter is presently the PPAS RAC Delegate. He is also involved in the industry’s government relations efforts, attending the 2011 Legislative Education and Action Day (LEAD) trip to Washington, D.C., and participating as a panelist on the LEAD follow-up webinar.

District 5 (West Coast) Representative: Steve Parker, MAS
A second-generation promotional products professional, Steve Parker, MAS, began his career in the industry in 1987 at Krajian Advertising. Parker is currently with HALO Branded Solutions (UPIC: HBS), residing in the San Fernando Valley, California. He has served on the Specialty Advertising Association of California’s (SAAC) board and executive committee and is its RAC delegate. Parker is also involved with a number of philanthropic organizations including as board member of the Jewish National Fund and as a co-chair of the 2004 National Conference of The Compassionate Friends.
